Fax[Scan/Fax]

To display:

Enter a destination fax number when scanned original data is sent by fax. When specifying multiple destinations, tap [Next Dest.] to add destinations.

Tapping [Reg. No.] allows you to specify a fax destination by a registered number.

Related setting (for the administrator)
  • You can select whether to have the user enter a fax number twice for direct entry of a fax number (Default: [OFF]). This is helpful to prevent a fax from being sent to the wrong destination. For details, refer to Here.

Normally, the default sender name is added. However, you can use different sender names depending as necessary.

If you want to use a sender name that is different from the default name, select a new sender name you want to use, then tap [OK].

F code is a communication procedure that is standardized by CIAJ (Communications and Information Network Association of Japan). Confidential TX and Relay Distribution are available if a remote machine supports F-code communications.

File Re-TX[Box]

When the recipient is busy and if communication cannot be established, undeliverable fax documents are stored in the Fax Retransmit User Box. Once you have opened the User Box, you can select a fax document stored in the User Box and preview, print out, send, or delete it.

Fax transmission is attempted for the number of times set by Auto Redialing function. If those attempts have failed, the fax document is stored in the Fax Retransmit User Box.

File Type[Scan/Fax]

Select the file type used for saving the scanned original data.

[File Type]
Select the file type to be saved from the following:
  • [PDF]: Most operating systems support this file format. You can specify a password or encrypt the file. Important original data should be saved as a PDF file.
  • [Compact PDF]: Save to a file that has a smaller size than normal PDF format. We recommend this format when you want to reduce file size for sending by E-mail etc.
  • [TIFF]: This is one kind of versatile image formats. This type is available for a multi-page file that provides multiple pages in one file.
  • [JPEG]: A file format widely used in digital cameras. Suitable for saving photo data. This type does not support the saving of multiple pages into one file.
  • [XPS]: A new image file format introduced in Windows Vista.
  • [Compact XPS]: Save to a file that has a smaller size than normal XPS format.
  • [PPTX]: Extension of a XML-base file that is created using PowerPoint of Microsoft Office 2007 or later.
[Page Setting]
Select a unit of pages to be saved in a file if the original contains multiple pages.
  • [Multi Page]: Convert all pages in a single file.
  • [Page Separation]: Convert the specified number of pages as a single file. For example, if you enter "2" to scan 10 original pages, they are separated into five files, and converted. However, if [File Type] is set to [JPEG], you cannot select [Page Separation].
[E-mail Attachment Method]
You can select the E-mail attachment method when [Scan Setting] is set to [Page Separation].
  • [Send All as 1 E-mail]: Attach all files to one E-mail.
  • [1 File per E-Mail]: Attach one file to one E-mail.
[PDF Detail Setting]
If [PDF] or [Compact PDF] is selected for file format, you can configure the PDF option settings.
You can enhance security by attaching a digital signature that identifies the author of the file, by file encryption, etc.

[Group/Sort]
Select the output method when printing multiple sets of copies.
  • [Group]: Feeds out copies separately page by page like "111", "222", "333", "444", "555".
  • [Sort]: Feeds out copies separately one by one like "12345", "12345", "12345".
[Offset]
Select this item when sorting by the number of copies or by page to feed out paper.
If the Finisher is installed, the copies are fed out and stacked on top of each other with each copy or page set staggered to separate them.
If no Finisher is installed, printed copies are fed out and sorted in an alternating crisscross pattern when the following conditions are satisfied.
  • 8-1/2 11, A4, or B5 paper is used.
  • Paper of the same size and type is loaded with the orientation in one paper tray and with the orientation in another tray
  • Auto Paper for the paper size setting is set.
[Staple]
Select the binding positions for sheet stapling.
  • [Corner]: Each set of printed sheets is stapled in a corner (top left or top right) before it is output.
  • [2 Position]: Each set of printed sheets is stapled at two positions (in the top, left, or right) before it is output.
  • [Position Setting]: Select the binding position and original loading direction. If [Auto] is specified for the binding position, the binding position is determined automatically based on the direction of the loaded original.
[Punch]
Select binding positions when punching sheets.
The number of punched holes varies depending on the country you are in.
  • [Position Setting]: Select the punch position and original loading direction. If [Auto] is specified for the punch position, the punch position is determined automatically based on the direction of the loaded original.
[Fold/Bind]
Select how to fold or bind paper.
  • [Half-Fold]: Feeds out a copied sheet by folding it in two. The [Booklet] option is turned [ON] at the same time.
  • [Center Staple & Fold]: Staples and feeds out a copied sheet by folding it in two. The [Booklet] option is turned [ON] at the same time.
  • [Tri-Fold]: Feeds out a copied sheet by folding it in three. Also select the unit by which the paper is folded from [By Copy Job (Multiple)], [1 Unit], and [By Page]. When you set [By Page], specify the number of pages to be folded at one time.
  • [Z-Fold]: Z-folds the long side of a copied sheet before feeding it out. This option is available when printing paper of 11 17 , 8-1/2 14 , A3 , B4 , or 8K . Selecting 8-1/2 14 folds paper in two instead of Z-folding.
Tips
  • The optional Finisher is required to use the Staple function.
  • To use the punch function, install the Punch Kit PK-521 or Z-Fold Unit in the optional Finisher FS-535, or install Punch Kit PK-520 in the Finisher FS-534.
  • The optional Finisher and Saddle Stitcher are required to use the Fold/Bind function.
  • The optional Finisher and Saddle Stitcher are required to use the Tri-Fold function.
  • To use the Z-fold function, the optional Finisher FS-535 and Z Folding Unit are required.

Frame Erase[Scan/Fax]

Erases the four sides of the original to the same width. You can also erase the four sides of the original to different widths.

In [Erase Amount], tap [+]/[-] for the inch area, or tap [+]/[-] or press the Keypad for the centimeter area to specify the width of the area to be erased.
[Individual]
Select this option to erase the four sides of the original to different widths.
Select a side ([Top], [Bottom], [Left] or [Right]) and specify the width of the area in [Erase Amount] by tapping [+]/[-] for an inch area and by tapping [+]/[-] or pressing the Keypad for a centimeter area. Likewise, specify the width for all the other sides one by one.
If you do not want to erase the side, cancel the setting for [Erase].

Frame Erase[Copy]

FTP[Scan/Fax]

Enter a destination FTP server host name or IP address when scanned original data is sent to a FTP server.

Enter the host name or IP address of the destination FTP server with up to 63 bytes.

[File Path]
Enter the name of a destination folder in the FTP server specified in [Host Name] with up to 127 bytes.
  • Entry example: "scan"
When not specifying a file path, enter "/".
[User Name]
If authentication is required in the destination FTP server, enter the login-enabled user name (using up to 64 characters).
  • Entry example: "public_user"
[Anonymous]
When authentication is not required for the destination FTP server, select this item.
[Password]
Enter the password of the user specified in [User Name].
[Port Number]
If necessary, change the port number.
In normal circumstances, you can use the original port number.
[Proxy]
When a proxy server is used in your environment, select this item.
[PASV]
When a PASV server is used in your environment, select this item.
