Setting the Serverless Pull Printing Environment
Enabling the advanced options
Enable the advanced options for serverless pull printing on the MFPs that make up a serverless pull printing group.
For details on the setting procedure, refer to Enabling the Advanced Options.
Permitting an access from an application via OpenAPI
Permit an access from an application via OpenAPI on the MFPs that make up a serverless pull printing group.
Select [Utility] - [Administrator] - [Network] - [OpenAPI Setting] - [OpenAPI Setting] - [Access Setting] to configure settings. For details, refer to [OpenAPI Setting].
- If you change the SSL Enable/Disable status in [SSL/Port Settings] of [OpenAPI Setting] after serverless pull printing settings have been completed, reconfigure settings using LK-114_SetupTool.
MFP authentication settings
Specify the user authentication method on the MFPs that make up a serverless pull printing group.
Select [Utility] - [Administrator] - [User Auth/Account Track] - [Authentication Method] - [User Authentication], then specify one of the following authentication methods.
MFP authentication
External server authentication
MFP + External server authentication (Destination: MFP)
MFP + External server authentication (Destination: External server)
Enhanced server authentication
MFP + Enhanced server authentication (Destination: MFP)
MFP + Enhanced server authentication (Destination: Enhanced server)
- Set the same authentication method to all MFPs that make up a serverless pull printing group.
- To perform the external server authentication using the IC card, you need to permit the quick authentication. For details on how to permit the quick authentication, refer to Permitting the quick authentication.
Permitting the quick authentication
When composing a serverless pull printing group involving different models, permit the quick authentication.
Select [Utility] - [Administrator] - [User Auth/Account Track] - [Simple Authentication setting] - [Simple Authentication setting], and [Simple Authentication setting] to ON (default: OFF).
- To use Data Administrator for settings, double-click Device on the device list, click [Authentication Setting] - [Simple Print Authentication setting], then select the [Enable Simple Print Authentication] check box.
Configuring the storage function
Set the storage function on the MFP to be assigned to the storage machine. If the storage function is enabled, you can store print jobs sent from a computer on the storage machine.
Select [Utility] - [Administrator] - [System Settings] - [Serverless Pull Printing Settings] - [Store Print Documents Settings] to configure settings. For details, refer to [Store Print Documents Settings].
- This function is available when the topology function is disabled.
- The storage function can also be set by selecting [System Settings] - [Serverless Pull Printing Settings] - [Store Print Documents Settings] in administrator mode of Web Connection.
- If print jobs are executed on the client machine during a period of heavy network traffic, print jobs may not be deleted even when [Delete after Print] is set to ON. In such a case, extend the timeout period in [Client Function Setting] - [Connection Timeout Setting].
- When using the MFP, which is available in both the wired LAN environment and wireless LAN environment, as the storage machine for serverless pull printing, assign a serverless pull printing group to the wired network interface of the storage machine.
- You can select [System Settings] - [Serverless Pull Printing Settings] - [Domain group list] and check the status of each MFP included in the serverless pull printing group the self-machine joins.
Configuring the client function
Set the client function on the MFP to be assigned to the client machine. Enabling the client function allows you to execute print jobs stored on the storage device through the MFP with the client function enabled.
Select [Utility] - [Administrator] - [System Settings] - [Serverless Pull Printing Settings] - [Client Function Setting] to configure settings. For details, refer to [Client Function Setting].
- The client function can also be set by selecting [System Settings] - [Serverless Pull Printing Settings] - [Client Function Setting] in administrator mode of Web Connection.
- When the client machine uses IPP as the protocol while IPP authentication is enabled, you need to set the user name and password for authentication to all the client and storage machines that compose the target serverless pull printing group. Select [System Settings] - [Serverless Pull Printing Settings] - [IPP Authentication Settings] to configure settings.
- You can select [System Settings] - [Serverless Pull Printing Settings] - [Domain group list] and check the status of each MFP included in the serverless pull printing group the self-machine joins.
Configuring the topology function
Set the topology function on the MFP to be assigned to the topology machine. If you enable the topology function setting, the machine with the setting enabled can manage configuration information of the target serverless pull printing group. Also, when linking to another serverless pull printing group, specify the target serverless pull printing group.
Select [Utility] - [Administrator] - [System Settings] - [Serverless Pull Printing Settings] - [Topology Function Setting] to configure settings. For details, refer to [Topology Function Setting].
- This function is available when the storage function is disabled.
- The topology function can also be set by selecting [System Settings] - [Serverless Pull Printing Settings] - [Topology Function Setting] in administrator mode of Web Connection.
- You can select [System Settings] - [Serverless Pull Printing Settings] - [Domain group list] and check the status of each MFP included in the serverless pull printing group the self-machine joins.
Joining a serverless pull printing group
When the self-machine is assigned to a storage or client machine, specify the serverless pull printing group the machine joins.
Select [Utility] - [Administrator] - [System Settings] - [Serverless Pull Printing Settings] - [Group settings] to configure settings. For details, refer to [Group settings].
- The serverless pull printing group the machine joins can also be set by selecting [System Settings] - [Serverless Pull Printing Settings] - [Group settings] in administrator mode of Web Connection.
- On a client machine, [Group settings] is available when the topology function is disabled.
- It takes approximately 20 seconds to complete information sharing between serverless pull printing groups via the topology machine after [Group settings] has been executed.
- You can select [System Settings] - [Serverless Pull Printing Settings] - [Domain group list] and check the status of each MFP included in the serverless pull printing group the self-machine joins.
