Fold & Staple
Overview
The paper is folded in half and stapled at 2 positions in the center. This function, which creates a magazine-like form, is available to create a spread document.
To manually perform Saddle Stitch or Half-Hold for a booklet original, sort pages of the original in the reverse order after referencing the following.
One of the following options is required to use this function.
- Finisher FS-541 with PostInserter PI-502 and Saddle Stitcher SD-510 mounted
- FoldingUnit FD-503 with SaddleStitcher SD-506 mounted in the next stage
- FoldingUnit FD-503 with Saddle Stitcher SD-513 mounted in the next stage
- PostInserter PI-502: The Lower tray can only be used as a paper tray. The Upper tray is not available.
- FoldingUnit FD-503: The Upper tray can only be used as a paper tray. The Lower tray is not available.
Setting Procedure (For PostInserter PI-502)
Folds and staples paper.

Load paper into the Lower tray of the PostInserter PI-502, and align the Side guides with the paper.

Press the Staple mode selection key [2] on the Post inserter control panel to turn on the Fold & Staple mode LED lamp.

Open the Paper delivery handle of the Folder tray.

Press the Start/Stop key [3] to start processing.
Setting Procedure (For FoldingUnit FD-503)
Folds and staples paper.

Load paper into the Upper tray of the Post inserter of the FoldingUnit FD-503, and align the Side guides with the paper.

Press the Staple selection key [2] on the Post inserter control panel to turn on the Fold & Staple mode LED lamp.
- When using the Bundle exit tray of the SaddleStitcher SD-506, be sure to set up the stand under the tray.
- Each output tray has a capacity limit. Be careful not to exceed the limit, otherwise unexpected problems may occur.
- Never push the tray to its original position while the stand of the Bundle exit tray of the SaddleStitcher SD-506 remains set up.

Press the Start/Stop key [3] to start processing.
- If the machine stops because double feeding was detected but did not actually occur, press Multi-feed detection key [1] to light up the Double Feed Detection OFF indicator LED.
