Users of this machine can be restricted by the authentication function (MFP authentication) of this machine. Authentication information of users are managed internally by this machine.
Employing the user authentication enables security- and cost-conscious advanced operations such as restricting users from accessing this machine, restricting users from using the functions by user, and managing the usage status of this machine.
When employing the MFP authentication, follow the below procedure to configure the settings.
Enable user authentication. In addition, register the user on this machine.

[User Authentication] | Select [ON (MFP)] to employ the MFP authentication. |
[Public User Access] | Select whether to allow use of an unregistered user (public user) (default: [Restrict]).

[When Number of Jobs Reach Maximum] | Sets the maximum number of sheets that each user can print. Here, select an operation if the number of sheets exceeds the maximum number of sheets that can be printed (default: [Skip Job]).

Settings of [User Registration]
Setting | Description |

[No.] | Specify the user's registration number. Select [Use opening number] to automatically assign the smallest available number. When you want to specify a number, select [Input directly] and then enter a number. |
[User Name] | Enter the user name (using up to 64 double-byte or single-byte characters). You cannot configure the same user name as an the one that has already been assigned to a registered user. Once a user name is registered, it cannot be changed. |
[E-mail Address] | Enter the user's E-mail address (using up to 320 single-byte characters, excluding spaces). |
[User Password] | Enter the password to log in to this machine (using up to 64 single-byte characters). |
[Function Permission] | Restricts functions available to the user if necessary. For details, refer to Restricting available functions for each user. |
[Max. Allowance Set] | Set the maximum number of pages that the user can print. For details, refer to Managing the maximum number of printable pages by user. |
[Permission Setting] | Assigns administrator privileges to a user as required. For details, refer to Configuring a Setting so that a User Can Log in to This Machine Using Administrator Privileges. |
