Cleaning the Duplex Part

If the duplex part is dirty, follow the steps below to clean it.

Check the cleaning locations before turning the main body on every day.

CAUTION
  • Always check the cleaning locations before turning the main body on.

  • If the power is turned on while the main body doors are closed, the fusing unit may become hot and you may be burned when cleaning around the fusing unit.

NOTICE
  • When cleaning, exercise care to prevent any dirt from falling into the paper feed route.

  1. Open the front door of the main body and the left side door of the main body.

  2. Turn ON the main power switch, and turn ON the sub power switch.

  3. Lower the lever [M4] clockwise.

  4. Hold the lever [M4], and pull out the duplex part.

  5. Turn OFF the sub power switch, then turn OFF the main power switch.

  6. Pull the handle in the direction indicated by the arrow, and remove the paper powder removal brush for the resist roller/Lw.

  7. Wipe off paper powder attached to the paper powder removal brush for the resist roller/Lw using a clean soft cloth.

  8. Return the paper powder removal brush for the resist roller/Lw to its original position.

    • supplementary explanationTo return the paper powder removal brush for the resist roller/Lw to its original position, securely insert the brush into the back.

  9. While releasing two projections for each in the direction indicated by the arrow, remove three paper powder removal brushes for the resist roller/Up.

  10. Wipe off paper powder attached to the paper powder removal brush for the resist roller/Up using a clean soft cloth.

  11. Return three paper powder removal brushes for the resist roller/Up to their original positions.

    • supplementary explanationTo return three paper powder removal brushes for the resist roller/Up to their original positions, check that the two projections for each get into the hole of the sheet metal.

  12. Open the lever [M1].

  13. Clean the inlet of the duplex part using a soft cloth dampened with cleansing alcohol.

  14. Close the lever [M1].

  15. Open the lever [M12].

  16. Clean off any dirt, paper pieces, and paper powder from the inlet of the duplex part using a soft cloth dampened with cleansing alcohol.

  17. Close the lever [M12].

  18. Open the lever [M3].

  19. Clean the resist roller using a soft cloth dampened with alcohol (cleaner).

  20. Clean the inside of the resist roller using a soft cloth dampened with alcohol (cleaner).

    • supplementary explanationIf the Centering sensor is dirty, always wipe off.

  21. Close the lever [M3].

  22. Push the duplex part into the main body, then return the lever [M4] to its original position.

  23. Close the left side door of the main body and the front door of the main body.
