Cleaning the Fusing Unit

If the fusing unit is dirty, follow the steps below to clean it.

Check the cleaning locations before turning the main body on every day.

CAUTION
  • Always check the cleaning locations before turning the main body on.

  • If the power is turned on while the main body doors are closed, the fusing unit may become hot and you may be burned when cleaning around the fusing unit.

NOTICE
  • When cleaning, exercise care to prevent any dirt from falling into the paper feed route.

  1. Open the front door of the main body and the left side door of the main body.

  2. Turn ON the main power switch, and turn ON the sub power switch.

  3. Lower the lever [M4] clockwise.

  4. Hold the lever [M4], and pull out the duplex part.

  5. Turn OFF the sub power switch, then turn OFF the main power switch.

  6. Wipe the pre-fusing guide clean using a clean soft cloth.

  7. Hold the lever [M8], and open the output unit.

  8. Hold the lever [M9], and open the fusing output unit.

  9. Wipe the fusing separation claw/Lw clean using a clean soft cloth.

  10. Wipe the fusing separation claw/Up clean using a clean soft cloth.

  11. Close the fusing output unit, and return the output unit to its original position.

  12. Push the duplex part into the main body, then return the lever [M4] to its original position.

  13. Close the left side door of the main body and the front door of the main body.
