To prevent divulging of information from a sent file

Encrypting a PDF file for sending

You can restrict file viewing with a password or assign operation privileges to a file when distributing original data as a PDF file. Also, you can add a digital signature using the certificate of the MFP. Encrypting a file prevents unauthorized viewing by third parties. Furthermore, adding a digital signature provides assurance regarding the authenticity of a file author (MFP) and ensures that the file has not been falsified.

Encrypting an E-mail and adding a digital signature (S/MIME)

S/MIME is one of the E-mail encryption schemes. Using S/MIME encrypts an E-mail sent from this machine, preventing an interception by third parties during transmission. Furthermore, adding a digital signature to an E-mail provides assurance regarding the authenticity of the sender, and certifies that the E-mail has not been falsified.
