Mount Perfect Binder PB-503, and perform perfect binding for a PDF document with 32 pages in the Cover Print 2 in 1 mode.
In this section, you can check how to finish the printed document while actually operating with sample data (sample A).

Mount Perfect Binder PB-503 to the main body. (Refer to Using Perfect Binder PB-503.)
Load the paper for the cover in a main body tray. Here, the explanation assumes that the paper for the cover has been loaded in the main body Tray 2.
Cover paper size: Custom (Widthwise 307 mm Lengthwise 430 mm / Widthwise 12.09" Lengthwise 16.93")
The Cover Print 2 in 1 mode does not allow using the cover tray of Perfect Binder PB-503.
Set the cover paper size to the same size for both main body and printer driver. (Refer to Paper Setting: Setting Paper for Tray / Paper Profile: Setting and Registering the Paper in the Change Individual Set Screen.)
The weight of the papers that can be set for perfect binding is as follows:
Body: 62 g/m2 to 105 g/m2 / 16 lb Bond to 28 lb Bond
Cover paper: 81 g/m2 to 216 g/m2 / 22 lb Bond to 57 lb Bond

Check the finishing of the printed document, then make adjustments with reference to the link if needed.
•Recommended Combination
Stamp: You can insert Date/Time, Page Number and Copy Number in each page at the time of printing. ([Stamp] tab of the printer driver. Refer to Stamp.)
1-sided or 2-sided print on a page basis: You can set 1-sided or 2-sided print for each page. ([Page Setting] tab of the printer driver. Refer to Page Settings.)
•Precautions
Prior to printing, make sure of the following when performing setting and operation.
Turn on the power of the perfect binder heater (refer to Turning the Heater On/Off)
Load the body sets and cover paper in the tray (refer to Perfect Binder PB-503 / Using Perfect Binder PB-503 / Loading Cover Paper in Cover Tray of Perfect Binder PB-503 / Perfect Binder PB-503)
Load the papers and configure the paper settings (refer to Paper Setting: Setting Paper for Tray / Paper Setting: Making Paper Settings / Paper Profile: Setting and Registering the Paper in the Change Individual Set Screen)
To reproduce stable colors, in addition to regular calibration, make other pre-output image quality adjustments as necessary, such as when changing screens or papers or when hue is important. For details, refer to Pre-output Image Quality Adjustment.
To adjust the image positions of front and back sides of printing, make pre-output image quality adjustments. For details, refer to Procedure of Both Sides Adjust.
If you cannot set this function, make sure that the optional device has been correctly mounted.
The weight of the papers that can be set for perfect binding is as follows:
Body: 62 g/m2 to 105 g/m2 / 16 lb Bond to 28 lb Bond
Cover paper: 81 g/m2 to 216 g/m2 / 22 lb Bond to 57 lb Bond
Match the original orientation and the orientation of the paper in the paper tray.

When setting in the printer driver, make sure that there are no previous settings left in each item in the tabs [Layout], [Finishing], [Cover], etc.
Open the original data with the application, and then click [Print] on the [File] menu.
Sample A (A_sample.pdf) is used in this example.
Select the printer to use for printing and click [Properties].
Click the [Layout] tab, and then set the following items.

If the specified settings are not displayed on the preview, click [Acquire Device Information] on the [Configure] tab to obtain the device information.
Click the [Paper] tab, and then click [Acquire Tray and Paper Data].
When the tray and paper data is acquired, a green checkmark is displayed.
If the tray and paper data could not be acquired, a red x checkmark is displayed. Check if the paper tray for Option is correctly mounted.
Select the tray loaded with the papers for the body sets in [Paper Tray], and then click [OK].
Use papers of 62 g/m2 to 105 g/m2 / 16 lb Bond to 28 lb Bond for the body sets for perfect binding.
Example: Here, the explanation assumes that papers (A4: Long Edge) have been set in [Tray 1].
Click the [Cover] tab, and then set each item of [Perfect Binding].

On the [Print] screen, enter the [Copies] and click [OK].
Printing starts. When the printing is completed, go to "Checking the finishing" and check the finishing of the printed document.

Check the finishing of the printed document. Check the following items, and then make adjustments if needed.
