Changing serverless pull printing settings using the Control Panel of the MFP

Configuring the storage function

Configure the storage function using the Control Panel of the MFP. If the storage function is enabled, you can store print jobs sent from a computer on the storage machine.

Tap [Utility] - [Administrator Settings] - [System Connection] - [Serverless Pull Printing Settings] - [Store Print Documents Settings], then configure the following settings.

Settings

Description

[Store Print Documents Usage Settings]

Select whether to use the storage function.

To use the storage function, select [Enable].

If a setting is changed as shown below, [Store Print Documents Usage Settings] is forcibly set to [No Limit].

  • The authentication method has been canceled or changed to another one.

  • [Enhanced Security Mode] has been changed to enable.

If [Store Print Documents Usage Settings] is changed from [Enable] to [No Limit], all print jobs stored on the storage machine are deleted.

[Delete after Print Setting]

Select whether to automatically delete print jobs stored on the storage machine each time they are executed.

This option is available when [Store Print Documents Usage Settings] is set to [Enable].

[Document Delete Time Setting]

Specify the time to automatically delete print jobs stored on the storage machine.

This option is available when [Store Print Documents Usage Settings] is set to [Enable].

  • When specifying the time in units of days, select [1 day], [2 days], [3 days], [7 days], or [30 days].

  • When specifying the time in hours, select [Time], then enter the hour value.

  • To keep print jobs on the storage machine, select [Save].

[Delete All Documents]

Deletes all print jobs stored on the storage machine.

This option is available when [Store Print Documents Usage Settings] is set to [Enable].

Tips
  • This function is available when the topology function is disabled.

  • You can also configure the storage function setting by selecting [System Settings] - [Universal Print Settings] - [Store Print Documents Settings] in the administrator mode of Web Connection.

  • If print jobs are executed on the client machine during a period of heavy network traffic, print jobs may not be deleted even when [Delete After Print Settings] is set to [ON]. In such a case, extend the timeout period in [Client Function Setting] - [Connection Timeout Setting].

  • When using the MFP, which is available in both the wired LAN environment and wireless LAN environment by installing the optional Wireless LAN Interface Kit, as the storage machine for serverless pull printing, assign a serverless pull printing group to the wired network interface of the storage machine.

Configuring the client function

Configure the client function using the Control Panel of the MFP. If you enable the client function setting of the MFP in a serverless pull printing group, you can execute print jobs spooled on the storage machine through the MFP with the client function enabled.

Tap [Utility] - [Administrator Settings] - [System Connection] - [Serverless Pull Printing Settings] - [Client Function Setting], then configure the following settings.

Settings

Description

[Client Function Usage Settings]

Select whether to use the client function.

To use the client function, select [Enable].

[Protocol Setting]

Select [IPP] or [Raw port] as the protocol used to connect to the storage device.

This option is available when [Client Function Usage Settings] is set to [Enable].

[Connection Timeout Setting]

Specify the timeout to connect to the storage device.

This option is available when [Client Function Usage Settings] is set to [Enable].

Tips
  • You can also configure the client function setting by selecting [System Settings] - [Universal Print Settings] - [Client Function Setting] in the administrator mode of Web Connection.

  • When the client machine uses IPP as the protocol while IPP authentication is enabled, you need to set the user name and password for authentication to all the client and storage machines that compose the target serverless pull printing group. For details on the setting procedure, refer to [IPP Authentication Settings] .

Configuring the topology function

Configure the topology function using the Control Panel of the MFP. Enabling the topology function setting sends information of the serverless pull printing group including the target MFP to another serverless pull printing group and receives information from another serverless pull printing group, enabling information sharing between serverless pull printing groups.

Tap [Utility] - [Administrator Settings] - [System Connection] - [Serverless Pull Printing Settings] - [Topology Function Setting], then configure the following settings.

Settings

Description

[Topology Function Enable Settings]

Select whether to use the topology function.

To use the topology function, select [Enable].

If a setting is changed as shown below, [Topology Function Enable Settings] is forcibly set to [No Limit].

  • The authentication method has been canceled or changed to another one.

  • [Enhanced Security Mode] has been changed to enable.

[Serverless Pull Printing Group Setting]

Specify the name of the serverless pull printing group that includes the self-machine.

This option is available when [Topology Function Enable Settings] is set to [Enable].

[Connection Timeout Setting]

Specify the timeout period to send an inquiry from the topology machine to another MFP.

This option is available when [Topology Function Enable Settings] is set to [Enable].

[Rebuild Serverless Pull Printing Group]

Reconfigure the configuration list of the serverless pull printing group that includes the self-machine.

This option is available to update configuration list information when the MFP in the serverless pull printing group has been removed.

This option is available when [Topology Function Enable Settings] is set to [Enable].

Tips
  • This function is available when the storage function is disabled.

  • You can also configure the topology function setting by selecting [System Settings] - [Universal Print Settings] - [Topology Function Setting] in the administrator mode of Web Connection.

  • When you want to associate multiple serverless pull printing groups, you need to configure a setting using Web Connection.

Joining a serverless pull printing group

Specify the target serverless pull printing group using the Control Panel on the MFP.

When the self-machine is assigned to a storage or client machine, specify the serverless pull printing group the machine joins.

Tap [Utility] - [Administrator Settings] - [System Connection] - [Serverless Pull Printing Settings] - [Group settings], then configure the following settings.

Settings

Description

[Serverless Pull Printing Group Setting]

Specify the serverless pull printing group the self-machine joins.

  • [Serverless Pull Printing Group Name]: Enter the name of the serverless pull printing group (using up to 16 characters).

  • [Address]: Enter the IP address or host name of the topology machine in the serverless pull printing group.

[Connection Timeout Setting]

Specify the timeout period to send an inquiry to the topology machine.

Tips
  • You can also configure the target serverless pull printing group setting by selecting [System Settings] - [Universal Print Settings] - [Topology Function Setting] in the administrator mode of Web Connection.

  • On a client machine, [Group settings] is available when the topology function is disabled.

Checking the status of the serverless pull printing group

You can check the status of each MFP included in the serverless pull printing group the self-machine joins.

Tap [Utility] - [Administrator Settings] - [System Connection] - [Serverless Pull Printing Settings] - [Status of devices in Group] to display the addresses of MFPs in the serverless pull printing group and the connection status in list view.

To check the details, select the target MFP in the list, and tap [Details].

Tips
  • You can also check the status of the target serverless pull printing group by selecting [System Settings] - [Universal Print Settings] - [Domain group list] in the administrator mode of Web Connection.
