Problems in Automatic Paper Type Detection

Description of problem

Remedy

Cannot correctly detect envelopes.

Check the condition of the envelope you are using to determine whether the inside is stuck due to static electricity.

To carry out an adjustment, use [Auto envelope detection sett.]. For details, refer to [Auto Paper Detection Setting] .

After [Auto envelope detection sett.] was completed, make sure that thick paper can be correctly detected.

Cannot correctly detect plain paper.

If plain paper cannot be correctly detected, use [Weight Class Threshold Adjustment] to make adjustments. For details, refer to [Auto Paper Detection Setting] .

If an adjustment failure recurs, contact your service representative.

Cannot correctly detect recycled paper.

If recycled paper cannot be correctly detected, use [Recycled Paper Identif. Adj.] to make adjustments. For details, refer to [Auto Paper Detection Setting] .

If an adjustment failure recurs, contact your service representative.

Paper other than envelope was detected as envelope.

Does a multi-sheet feeding occurs?

Securely flip through the paper, and load it again.

Cannot correctly detect special paper, colored paper, gross paper, matte paper, label paper, index paper, or postcard.

Select the paper type in [Paper]. For details, refer to [Changing the paper type] .

The paper type is displayed as plain paper when recycled paper is loaded.

If plain paper or recycled paper is not correctly displayed, contact your service representative.

Cannot correctly detect pre-print paper (paper on which the company name or logo is printed).

Select [Single Side Only] in [Paper]. For details, refer to [Changing the paper type] .

If a warning code is detected, printing fails when [Paper type auto detection settings] is set to ON. To start printing, set [Paper type auto detection settings] to OFF.
