[Tone Curve]

Selects the default tone curve setting.

Set the values for [Image] and [Text/Graphics].

[Keep 100% Density for Text/Graphics]

Selects the default for K100% output.

  • Whether to output an object at the maximum density.

Target: Only objects whose input values are K100% (text, graphics)

K100%: RGB = (0,0,0) or CMYK = (0,0,0,100)

This function prints black (not gray) in K only (100%).

This function prints objects in pure black (K) not in rich black (CMYK).

Even if you apply a tone curve whose maximum output value is less than 100%, this function keeps K 100%.

This function is not available on color machines.

[Pure Black]

Selects the default Pure Black settings.

  • Whether to use Pure Black

  • Target when used

Pure Black: A function that prints black (not gray) in K (100%).

Black is printed in pure black (K) instead of rich black (CMYK).

It applies to positions where RGB = (0,0,0) or CMYK = (0,0,0,100) is specified.

  • Prevents excessive application of toner (overlaying four colors).

  • Prevents toner from being used excessively.

  • Reproduces K more stably than four-color K.

This function is not available on the machine.

[Black Overprint]

Selects the default black overprint settings.

  • Whether to use black overprint

Black overprint: A function that prints the underlying color over an object in K = 100%.

  • As the underlying color is used, the K that is printed is not pure black.

  • Prevents white space generated around an object.

If you choose not to use this function, the underlying color is removed before printing. (Knock-out processing)

This function is not available on the machine.

[Gray Replacement]

Selects the default gray replacement settings.

  • Whether to use gray replacement

  • Target when used

Select the values for [RGB] and [CMYK] respectively.

Gray Replacement: A function that prints gray in K (1% to 99%).

It applies to positions where the R, G, and B values are equal or CMYK = (0,0,0,X) is specified

(where X is a value between 1 to 99).

  • Stabilizes the quality of gray

(because it can be applied to all ranges including highlights and shadows, with the exception of solids).

This function is not available on the machine.

[Composite Overprint]

Selects the default composite overprint settings.

  • Whether to use composite overprint

  • Priority target when used

Composite Overprint: A function of overprinting

  • Prints by overlaying colors, not limited to K = 100%.

  • Reproduces transparency (an overlay of colors) represented on an application that created the image.

If you choose not to use this function, the underlying color on objects is removed before printing. (Knock-out processing)

This function is not available on the machine.

[Use Spot Color]

Selects the default spot color setting.

  • Whether to use a spot color

This function is not available on the machine.

[Use Alternative Color Conversion]

Selects the default alternative color setting.

  • Whether to use an alternative color.

This function is not available on the machine.

[Use Embedded RGB Profile]

Selects the default setting of profile used in color conversion.

  • Whether to use a profile that is embedded in an object in print data as the profile of RGB source

Profile to use
When selected: Embedded profile
When deselected: Profile prepared by the image controller

Select this option when you print by using a profile that you assign in an application.
Example: Adobe Photoshop

This function is not available on the machine.

[Use Embedded CMYK Profile]

Selects the default setting of profile used in color conversion.

  • Whether to use a profile that is embedded in an object in print data as the CMYK target profile

Profile to use
When selected: Embedded profile
When deselected: Profile prepared by the image controller

Select this option when you print by using a profile that you assign in an application.
Example: Adobe Photoshop

This function is not available on the machine.

[RGB Simulation]

Selects the default RGB Simulation setting.

  • Whether to perform RGB simulation

RGB Simulation: A function that simulates the conversion from RGB data to CMYK data in the CMYK color space when the data is converted.

To select this item, select [RGB Source Profile] in the [RGB] tab.

This function is not available on the machine.

[PDF/X output intent]

Selects the default output intent setting of a PDF file.

  • Whether to use a profile that is embedded in a PDF file as the CMYK target profile

PDF/X: An ISO standard as print data
Output intent: A profile specified in color settings

Color conversion target
When selected: Embedded output intent
(When no output intent is embedded in the PDF file, the target is defined according to the color conversion settings of CMYK. )
When deselected: CMYK profile
(The profile that you selected in the color configuration settings or default manual settings)

This function is not available on the machine.

[Use CIE Color]

Select the default of the color space to be used in color conversion.

  • Whether to use the color space that the CIE color system configures

If you select this item, colors tend to become lighter.

Because of gradation changes, you may be able to reduce blocked up shadows.

To enhance the visibility, change the tone curve to the one that can output colors thicker.
